Funk, hip-hop, drum'n'bass, R'n'B all colliding with modern jazz textures. Their uncanny musical relationship enhanced by blood, Brownman and Marcus Ali together form an incredibly synergetic, almost telepathic bond making them one of the most called upon horn-men teams in the city. They have appeared side by side in countless brass sections in the Canadian pro music scene most nobably as the backbone to the multi-award winning latin-jazz ensemble CRUZAO, Juno nominated reggae artists TABARRUK, modern house outfit FUNKY HI-LIFE, african masters RADIO NOMAD, merengue specialists DOMINICANADA and the Lula Lounge's resident Salsa powerhouse MARRON MATIZADO. This performance will feature: Marcus Ali - alto, bari & electryc saxes (from MARRON MATIZADO) Nick "Brownman" Ali - trumpet / flugelhorn / electryc trumpet (from CRUZAO) Dane Wedderburn - 6-string electryc basses (from CHIVA) Kieran Adams - drums (from ELECTRYC TRIO) & special guests Enlight - microphone (one of Canada's finest free-style jazz-rappers- from GRUVASYLUM) Ashot Gregoryan - alto sax (from GRUVORIA) This performance is a Hospital Debt Relief Fundraiser for Noelia Grey. When first coming to Canada, Argentinean flamenco dancer Noelia Grey incurred a massive hospital bill totaling close to $10,000 and not being a citizen, she was not covered by OHIP. Before she can become a Canadian citizen, this bill must be paid down. All proceeds from this concert will go towards paying down this young artist's hospital bill. -- Jon Kay Endangered Species Management Representing trumpeter/composer Nick "Brownman" Ali New York City, New York JonKay@brownman.com
